4th of July weekend

It was a fun filled, low stress 4th of July weekend here! Just what we needed! On Saturday morning we took the girls to OMSI. Here is Katya getting her face painted:

The rest of the afternoon Craig spent making dolmas and spanakopita appetizers for the Tillman/Jackson 4th of July party. They were DELICIOUS! I got up bright and early on Sunday morning to join Melanie, Cindy, Suzanne and JoAnn (a good friend of Cindy's, not JoAnn Smith) to walk the Flat Traffic half marathon on Sauvie Island.

Unfortunately, leaving an hour a head of time was not enough as it took us 45 minutes to get onto Sauvie Island (normally a 15 min drive). It was a bummer to start off the morning sitting in the car and we started over 30 minutes into our event. Oh well. We were most definitely not out to break any records. In fact, here is an older lady with a cane that smoked us! Pretty funny!

It took us 5hrs to walk the 13 miles, quite slow but we were doing it as a group and wanted to stick together. We had a lot of fun along the way, with just the right amount of grumbles in the last couple miles. Here is Melanie striking a pose at the 13 mile sign...just 0.1 miles to go!

The 4th of July part was also in celebration of Rich's 30th birthday. Here he is being silly...wait, looks a lot like Melanie's silly picture. They really are a perfect match!

Sterling enjoyed the basketball hoop in the Tillman's backyard.

Katya with a ketcup face playing by the birdbath (a clean birdbath mind you).

Reagan with daddy playing in the birdbath.

Some of the gang with Cindy lighting off some small fireworks.

Reagan chilling out on the grass.

Moira and Katya played so good together! Not sure what was going on here, some fun pretend game.

Brenda Tillman, so cute! (The oldest Tillman girl, Lisa's daughter)

Reagan's keepin' it real with the flag ball which was made in China.

Patrick had fun despite being duped into being the prince in Katya's Sleeping Beauty game.

Moira on the swing!

Ralph in fine form cracking us up.

Katya with her first ever sparkler! Fun!

We put Reagan down at Melanie's so we could enjoy festivities and we just let Katya stay up. She actually did quite well, no melt downs. She had SO much fun playing with all the kids and in the Tillman's great backyard. She did pretty well with fireworks although they scared her a little. She got use to them but started saying, "I don't like fireworks." So I took her inside where Patrick, Brenda and a few adults were. Moira ended up heading inside too and they watched a movie. It was fun for Craig and I to get to stay outside and enjoy the fireworks. It reminded me of OLD childhood memories of fireworks at Grandma and Grandpa Thompson's house. Hope everyone else had a great weekend too!
