A break from the iPhone pics.....
Some "big" camera pictures of Katya that I took a few weeks back. Her and I went out to get a few shots of some Indiana representation for an art wall I did in the living room. I will post a picture of that later. Of course my favorite pictures from that night were the ones with her in it:-) And for the non-portrait shots, a picture SHE took was the best of the night (she brought her point and shoot)!
This last one is like one of those pictures, "How many things can you find that are wrong"? But there is something about it I love. Sometimes imperfections are beautiful!
A final note: Katya is doing really, really well in first grade. She is always happy to go in the morning; she loves riding the bus; we are getting the homework routine down. The curriculum is challenging; her reading skills have really taken off, spelling is a bit tough, and she is doing well in math. She loves the extra things that they call, "specials." PE, art, music (favorite), computer and library. Those always the most fun! She has had a few hard days/moments, of course, we all do, but overall she and the other girls are doing fantastic here.
Soon I will be posting a poem that Katya wrote a few days ago. Inspiration struck her Sunday afternoon when we were playing outside. She ran in and got a paper and wrote a beautiful poem. We have a little artist on our hands....

Update
The Kirkland's were allowed to drive out of their neighborhood (a round about way, since the bridge near by was washed away) last night! Yeah! They were not expected to get out until Monday. But they happily made it to mom and dads in Longmont last night. It is such a blessing that mom and dad live so close and that their neighborhood stayed dry!

Prayers for the Kirkland's
This was take behind my sisters house in Lyons CO. Her family is stranded, no way out of their neighborhood. They spent the night in a 2 man tent ( family of four) in these hills in pouring rain last night. It sounds like many neighbors did the same. The rain continues, their house is in danger. Please pray for Rena, Nathan, Carsten and Grant. And all the people affected by these devastating floods.
