Easter weekend

We started off our three day weekend packing for a surprise camping trip to Brown County State Park, about an hour and a half south of us. Katya had school that day, but we picked her up from the bus stop and hit the road. Unfortunately, we only lasted one night because Reagan and Elsie got sick and started running fevers. Reagan was especially miserable and even fell asleep in front of the morning camp fire. Katya was pretty disappointed and so Craig camped out with her for a second night, in our backyard.

Elsie enjoyed the first 15 minutes of camping...and then started saying "I want to go home." I hope it is just that she was getting sick. It will be tough for her to not like camping growing up in this family!

Brown County was very brown this time of year. I can see how summer and fall would be just lovely! We loved all the hills though, and I think it has its own beauty, even with the brown. There are lots of mountain biking trails in the park.

It got really pretty as the sun started to go down and the woods turned orange, red and pink! This was behind our campsite.

Hot cocoa cheered her up for a little while! It was a long, long night of not-so-much-sleep for Craig and I.

I took a few pictures on Easter Sunday...not much. I was pretty exhausted from getting up with the little ones all night long while Craig was in the tent out back. I will post those next.

Birthday girl!

We had a quiet, but nice celebration of Reagan's 5th birthday. It was spring break so Katya was home from school...but she got a bad stomach virus that I had the day before. She was pretty miserable for a few days. Reagan and Elsie had it too in more mild form. I was completely out of commission for one full day...thankfully Craig never got sick. We made the most of the day despite being up half the night cleaning up kid barf. 

Reagan loves all of her gifts and is playing with them a ton! She has such a great imagination.
